The book of two ways is an ancient Egyptian funerary text. The title of the novel is taken from the Egyptian coffins text found in the middle kingdom of Egypt.
And what makes it famous is that the first known map of the afterlife has two routes: a land route and a water route. The point was that you could take either the land routes or the water route and finish up at the same place, which was the ancient Egyptian version of heaven called a field of offering.

My Thoughts on the Book of Two Ways by Jodi Picoult
The research Jodi Picoult did in the book, the facts that she weaved into the book, the very deep characters blew my mind. That is what ultimately ties this whole book together what ties ancient Egypt to dawn’s works as a death doula that help to learn the end of the life care. And she discovered is that we are still asking the same question to ancient Egyptian 4000 yrs ago how do we have a good death? Well, the answer is still the same you have a good life.
On the other hand, this novel has a heavy topic that will confuse the reader. But if you are interested in egyptology and what death doulas do, this book will be interesting for you to read.
