Will modern technology replace books

Will modern technology replace books? the question that every book reader asks to themselves while reading on their screens. Well, we live in a technology era in which the internet plays an influential role. It’s unquestionably a fact that the lightning growth in information technology has led us to shift further towards the internet for most research needs.

I went to a book fair; besides all the bookstalls, there was a section of e-reader, kindles, and other reading tablets. As these e-readers were convenient to use after scrolling some of the pages in the kindle, I thought to some extent that there would be a significant decrease in the future for print books.

However, as a book reader, I still believe that modern technology cannot replace books. The feeling of touching a book, flipping the pages, and putting a bookmaker cannot be replaced by screens. It also cannot replace the sense of putting a collection of books, Stocking the Novels all over the shelves and cupboards, and proudly saying that I have read all.

I have talked about some of the facts in this article and tried to answer, will modern technology replace books. I have also talked below some of the reasons, related to the article.

Will Modern Technology Replace Books?

The world is growing at a remarkable speed. The evolution of technologies has increased in all sectors. Earlier, we have to look over tons of books in the library to gather some information or research something, but now easy access to the internet has saved our incredible time in recent years.

Millions of people around the world are using internet right now, billions of information shared every miniute on internet. thousands of offline books have already been converted to e-books. E-books are compatible lots of books can be saved in one small device.

Evolution of computers from desktops to tablets, people have been more easily accessing them to read. Moreover, there are many gadgets for reading in the market like E-book readers and audiobooks, which are easing our reading experience.

Can all these reasons be enough to replace the hard-bound books? Well, I don’t think so. The internet is an excellent source of entertainment. It provides information, but in no way it can replace the warm and personal experience of reading books. one will find a hard time concentrating on reading on the internet as there are lots of distractions. Books, on the other hand, helps people to sit comfortably, relaxed without any other distraction.

To emphasize more on my points, I have stated some reasons why technology can’t replace books.

Reasons Why Technology Cannot Replace Books

1. Reading books are more comfortable than reading on screen

Staring at the screen for a longer duration of time can be uncomfortable, gives you a neck cramp, and can damage your eyes too. Unlike laptops and tablets, books are easy to hold, as the books are more soft and flexible to carry. Most people like to sit and read the books page to page.

Staring at the screen has been surging the vision problem, especially in children; wearing glasses at a younger age is now more common. Thou Reading longer on the screen is comfortless and has an intensely negative effect on health and ability of our eyes.

2. Books are more durable than electronic device.

You can read a book while walking and if it drops nothing happens, some times you throw the book on the table, and it didn’t break, and sometimes a glass of water splashes on your books and you dry them and its again ready to read. So books are durable to use.

Can this same apply to laptops or tablets? The answer is “NO” because these gadgets comprise hard materials, including plastic and glass. Once dropped, it can be break, the water can shot the circuit of its hard drive, and its software also gets corrupt if you don’t update it for a long time.

So electronic device requires regular updating of software to run smooth however books don’t need any update.

3. Digital media is costly to repair.

As books are made of papers which is soft, flexible and most importantly it cant break when you drop it. Yeah the paper can be torn but it can cheaply and easily be fixed, talking about screens like kindle, tablet or laptop, once droped it will consume a considerable sum of money.

These gadgets got outdated in every 3-4 years and you have to buy again, which are costly. whereas books once publish can never be outdated.

Accessing the internet is also costly to research on internet or reading on internet one had to access the internet. Downloading an e-book, one had to access the internet, which is expensive. At the same time, some of the good books come in couples of cents.

4. Digital media need power to run.

It is known to everyone all electronic device mobile phones to the laptop every electronic item need power to run. In contrast, books are offline, and it’s just printed papers bounded in fancy cover.

Mobile phones, laptops, tablets will die because they need the power to run, but books don’t require power to run.

5. Writers won’t allow it.

People who want to become a writer want to see their work permanently publish as books. Because these are something that one can touch, feel, and read without an electronic source.

Most of the writers now use MS office word or other writing software tools besides typewriter, but in the end, they are printing all their work back to the hard copy to the paper and finally publishing a book.

He may use the internet for research instead of using the library, but the end product is still the book.

Conclusions | Will Modern Technology Replace Books

Despite the fact that millions of people are engaging in technology the books will never be replaced. Books are the main source of education and primary source of recreation of information. All academics are hugely dependent on printed books and offline material, but with the help of technology, things are more clear to understand.

As computers, the internet takes over most of our activity, we may end up use books less often to gather information, but books will remain stand in the future.

In the coming future Both Reading Technologies and books will exist side by side. One cannot escape technology, and books are also not an exception to it. It will depend on the readers choice on which they are comfortable reading with.
